Since the 1980's St Beuno's has been running courses in
what is termed 'Apostolic Spirituality', a term contrasted
in Catholic circles with 'Monastic Spirituality' and considered
particularly suitable for those who are working outside
monastery walls.
Ignatian Spirituality is based on the Spiritual Exercises
of Ignatius of Loyola, which is centred on Jesus Christ
in Scriptures. People of many different Christian denominations
have found this spirituality ideal to help them live their
Christian faith in a busy life.
We currently offer two three month courses, both of which
have at their core the full 30 day Spiritual Exercises
of Ignatius Loyola. There is one from January to April
which centres a little more on personal growth in relationship
with God and understanding of self. This is a relatively
slow moving course which involves a workshop on the enneagram.
Many people find this course excellent for a focused unwinding
after a demanding work. It is an excellent sabbatical
and always develops a sense of pleasant community among
the participants.
FURTHER DETAILS
The second three month course is more for those who want
a break, but who would like to focus on equiping themselves
for retreat giving or spiritual direction. It involves
a pilgrimage to Spain and Italy where there will be a
looking at the influences on Ignatius and Ignatian Spirituality.
There is a final month with a fairly intensive look at
spiritual direction and retreat giving.

The ten week programme on Spiritual Direction and Retreat
giving is a particularly practical way for those who have
experienced the Full Spiritual Exercises to develop skills
in Ignatian retreat giving and spiritual guidance.
FURTHER
DETAILS
Finally there is a one month programme
on retreat giving and spiritual guidance in the Ignatian
tradition at the end of the year. This is particularly
suitable for those who have experienced the Spiritual
Exercises but would like to deepen their understanding
and practical skills in the area of spiritual direction.
This course would be particularly suitable for those who
are likely to be involved in religious formation or spiritual
guidance of any kind.
