SOME FACILITIES WE OFFER

SPECIAL DIETS

Most medically required special diets can be catered for. Please do make sure that you mention your dietary requirements on your booking form. Our chefs will try their best to accommodate you, but please remember that they usually have over 70 people to cater for and so they do need your understanding and advance notice of needs.

COMMUNICATIONS

Long Courses: There are telephone extensions in each bedroom; most rooms have direct dial facilities for outgoing and incoming calls.  You will have a personal telephone number to give to your friends; this can only be issued on your arrival. Telephone bills itemising calls you make are issued during your stay.

There are WiFi facilities which reach just over half of the bedrooms and a public room for those who cannot access the internet in their own room. There are also two computers with broadband internet for use by participants.

You may find it useful to bring a memory stick for our "handout sheets".

Retreats: with the exception of emergency and internal numbers, telephones in the rooms are blocked during retreat times to ensure that you are not disturbed during your time of silence.

LAUNDRY

We provide a laundry room with washing machines, drying facilities and irons for your use. We do ask for consideration for the environment and our electricity bill by washing small, individual items by hand and using line drying whenever possible.

BIBLES

Bibles are available in all the bedrooms (NRSV) We do have a few Bibles in different languages and translations for borrowing from our Library. (Office books/Breviaries are not availalbe)

MEDICAL

Medical consultations are available to temporary visitors to the UK within the British National Health Service. British, EU and all foreign nationals will need the name and address of your doctor back home to register for this service. British and EU nationals will receive free health treatment. Non-EU nationals will have to pay for medical consultations. We strongly recommend that you take out adequate medical/travel insurance. All dental services have to be paid for. In addition please note that medical prescriptions from doctors overseas are not valid in the U.K. We suggest you bring your own supply of medicines (particularly inhalers, which can not be purchased here without a U.K. doctor’s prescription).

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

Voltage in the U.K. is 240v. For radios and other musical devices we recommend earphones so as not to disturb silent retreatants.
