PAMPLONA - MANRESA - BARCELONA - MONTSERRAT
The pilgrims then take a private bus via Pamplona to Manresa; this
is a coast to coast journey, we shall get a glimpse of the Bay of Biscay
before crossing the north of Spain.
We spend four days in Manresa, during which time we hope to visit:
| The
Holy Cave where Ignatius is reputed to have prayed.
We shall celebrate Mass in the Cave.
|
 |
|
We take the rack and pinion railway
up to the Benedictine monastery of Montserrat where we have time
to visit the Black Madonna. Then we join the Benedictine
community at the Conventual Mass.
After time for coffee we have the opportunity
to listen to the famous boys choir.
After lunch there is free time when
people can stroll along the hillside walks, take the funicular
to the top of the mountain, visit the excellent small art gallery
shop for souvenirs or local produce.

We tour Ignatian Barcelona to
see his sword, the beautiful Our Lady of the Sea church (Santa
Maria del Mar) where he begged, the Cathedral where he prayed.
There is ample time in Barcelona to visit the Gaudi Cathedral
of the Holy Family (Sagrada Famila), do a bus tour of
the city, walk the Ramblas and port, do a little shopping or visit
the FC Barcelona stadium.

| Ignatian
Manresa allows us a gentle day where we walk across the same bridge
Ignatius would have used to enter the town, which spans the Cardoner
River. We view the great Seo Church with its magnificent
15th Century altarpieces.
We see the two hospitals where Ignatius was nursed. Visit
the monument to mystics where Ignatius is believed to have a vision.
Finally we hope to join the Dominican Sisters in the ancient covent
of Santa Clara built originally as a leper hospital. |

| From Manresa we travel
to Barcelona for our flight to Rome. |
