PILGRIMS TO SACRED PLACES

Druid Circle

September 10-19, 2012

2013: April: Friday 26 - Wednesday 1
Led by Karen Garrett
& David Birchall SJ

Each day we shall take a walk to a local sacred space, consider the place and its history, take time to pray and absorb the atmosphere.  On a pilgrimage the walk is a significant element of the day's prayer - each of our places will involve some walking to the site.

All these places have known generations of people come to commune with God, bringing their desires, troubles and sickness. 'Thin', elemental places of water, stone, earth and air. Places of hope and healing of body and psyche for Christians and for those who lived in Wales in pre-Christian times.

Some places are close enough to get there and back on foot in an afternoon; others will take a one way walk and a return by car whilst a couple of places we shall need to travel by vehicle.  No places are very far from St Beuno's. Participants are advised to bring walking boots and waterproofs.  You may also like to bring something to sit on outside.  Participants should be able to walk easily for a few miles on country footpaths. This retreat is unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties.
