The Exercises for the Contemporary Retreat Giver

A Seminar led by Philip Endean SJ

June 22-25

Is much of Ignatius' 16th Century Spiritual Exercises based on an outmoded spirituality and world-view?  How should a contemporary retreat-giver draw on The Exercises?

Fr Philip Endean SJ, from Campion Hall, Oxford, will lead an exploration of such quesxtions by looking at key elements of the Ignatian process through a mixture of formal inputs, case-studies and discussions.

Suggested Offering £195

Philip Endean

Fr Philip Endean takes a look at the orginal text of St Ignatius and look at what adaptations we might need to make when giving the Spiritual Exercises today. The two speakers are very different and will not be covering the same materials.

This seminar is intended for those who are involved with Ignatian Spirituality either giving retreats, in religious formation or in spiritual direction. It is expected that participants will have made the Exercises in one form or other and be familar with them. This is not a retreat and is not in silence. People who participate in the three day seminars will join a larger number of people who are involved in a three month or one month course in Ignatian Spirituality. The sharing with other participants in the seminar is a valued part of the experience.
