Retreats
and courses at St Beuno’s are subsidised by central Jesuit funds.
There are increasing expenses in relation to insurance, keeping up with
new health and safety regulations which though often very costly, offer
little or no tangible benefit to those who come on retreats or longer
programmes.
We have had to forgo many items which would be of immediate
benefit to retreatants. Over the years there have been many generous
donors who have given money for both bursaries and improvements to the
house.
This wish list is an attempt to offer items which would
improve the retreat experience at St Beuno’s offering new services
or improving the environment. We invite those who could afford to make
a donation to help us in our attempt to maintain St Beuno’s.

THIS YEAR'S WISHES
Knot Garden
The Knot Garden is taking shape. Money for laying out and purchasing
plants for this is still needed.
Sponsor a bed: There are 9 herb beds
in the Knot Garden, we need £100 per bed to plant them out.
Sponsor a bench: We need a bench for
the Knot Garden £150 - this can be dedicated to anyone you wish.
Sponsor a fountain: a simple water feature
would look good in the knot garden.
Bursary
Fund
We always need extra money to support people who can't afford
our offerings.
New Prayer Room
We would like to develop the small sacristy outside the St Agnes chapel
into a new prayer-space. This would need a stud wall and a theme: it
has been suggested a Creation Space - Environmental themed room.
Sponsor a Bible
The new rooms need a Bible (and some do go missing) so we would like
about 5 more Bibles at £15 each.
Sauna?
If you think a sauna would be a relaxing addition to our facilities,
then if we get a reasonable donation or two we would be only to happy
to include one.
Thanks for making last year's wishes come true.
Our sincere thanks to all the donors who in 2008-10 provided:
2 benches for the grounds,
50 new chairs for our main chapel.
1 small tabernacle for the Agnes Chapel
Plants and help with the ponds
Most of the money towards the building of two new en-suite rooms in
the Cottage area.
Labyrinth
Our Labyrinth was completed this year and is well used. The Labyrinth
retreat was a great success and the candlelight communal labyrinth walk
quite spectacular. The money to lay it came from donations.
Summer Houses
We were left some money to remember Brother Joe Daley SJ, who spent
many years in St Beuno's, in exile from his native Glasgow. We have
bought two summer houses for the garden to act as shelter for retreatants
from the chill winds and odd drop of rain that we occasionally get.
These are proving popular.
Waters of Life
Two beautiful new ponds have been laid in the front of the house, again
with some help from donations.
